What YOU Need to Know About Travel Insurance (Part 1) | C&S ...

Are you ever confused when you are booking a vacation and you are almost done and then a screen pops up that says, ?Do you want to purchase insurance for your trip??? Well before you click, or not, make sure to read this 2 part series in order to make the right decision for you.

  1. The duration of the vacation you are about to embark on does not matter when deciding whether or not you are going to purchase travel insurance.? An accident or serious illness can happen any time, whether it is a weekend getaway or month long escape.
  2. If you are going away for an extended period and are going to be in an area where certain illnesses are prevalent, be aware that it is almost imperative that you purchase travel insurance with supplemental medical coverage.? Most normal medical insurance policies do not cover these types of illnesses if you live in the US (malaria, certain fungal viruses, etc)
  3. While it is true that with travel insurance most of your bills associated with the trip are paid up-front, there are certain times when you have to submit your receipts for reimbursement once you are home.? ?Therefore, make sure to have enough cash on hand if you run into these types of occurrences.
  4. Ever missed a connecting flight, only to find out that the next flight you need to take isn?t until the following day?? Delays can sometimes ruin your whole trip and the airlines are never any help with reimbursing you for all your troubles. ?The only way to get your money back? Insurance.
  5. Airlines and hotels rarely reimburse you in the event of a cancellation, resulting in a loss of money and a gain of irritation.? Unless you have given days, sometimes weeks, of notice you won?t get anything back.? Insurance is the only way to ensure your money is safe.
