UNT close to adding baseball program for first time in 25 years

DENTON ? UNT is close to adding a baseball program.

UNT fielded a team from 1984-88. The school formed a committee that over the last several months has examined the viability of reviving the program and building an on-campus venue.

?We brought some people together to help determine the funding process for a facility as well as the program for the first two years,? athletic director Rick Villarreal said recently. ?We have made a lot of progress. Hopefully in the near future, we will be able to lay out the situation publicly.?

UNT is leaving the Sun Belt Conference to join Conference USA this summer.
